Three ways to play as of September 27, 2026: Steam on Windows PC and Steam Deck for $14.99 — temporarily $9.74 in a launch discount that ends September 29 — Android on Google Play as a one-time $5.99, and a free browser demo on itch.io. There is no iOS release yet; the developer says that build is still in App Store review.
| Platform | Price (checked 2026-09-27) | Status | Key facts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steam (Windows) | $14.99, $9.74 in the launch discount ending September 29 | Released September 15, 2026 | Steam Deck: Playable; full controller support; 11 interface languages |
| Android (Google Play) | $5.99 one-time | Released September 15, 2026 | Same account as the PC game; #1 top paid strategy (US chart) |
| iOS (App Store) | — | Not released | Still in App Store review per the developer — see the iOS section below |
| itch.io (browser) | Free | Demo online | v0.8.5-era build — see the free demo section below |
The two paid versions are the same game, shipped the same day: the developer’s August 31 announcement promised “the android version will be available on Google Play Store at the same time as the Steam release on September 15th, 2026”, and both stores now carry that date. What differs is price, controls and account plumbing — the next sections take them one at a time.
Steam vs mobile: the practical differences
| Steam | Android (Google Play) | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $14.99 ($9.74 intro until September 29) | $5.99 one-time |
| Runs on | Windows PCs; Steam Deck (Playable rating) | Android phones and tablets |
| Account | Steam account | Google account — one account shared with the PC game |
| Controls | Full controller support | Touch — patch 1.1.0 enlarged the Batopedia’s tabs and close button “so it’s easier to tap with a finger” |
| Review standing | Very Positive: 91% of 961 reviews (2026-09-27) | 4.8 stars from 185 reviews (2026-09-27) |
The account row is the one that surprises people: the 1.0.0 release notes describe the Android version as “playable on the same account as your PC runs”. Progress travels with the account between phone and PC — but each version is a separate purchase in its own store, which is exactly why a “bought it twice” crowd exists (more on that below).
After the price gap, the Deck is the other dividing line: Valve’s compatibility test rates the game Playable — one tier below Verified — and the store page lists full controller support. A positive Steam review puts it plainly: it “runs perfectly on Steam Deck which is what I primarily play it on” (one of the game’s most-upvoted reviews, captured in our September 27 research sweep).
Android-specific footage is still scarce. The dedicated mobile gameplay video below sat at 622 views when checked on September 27, 2026 — its thumbnail is the game’s key art, because dedicated Android capture has not caught up with the PC content yet.

Which version should you buy?
Pick by device first, because the account system does the rest:
| Your situation | Sensible pick | Why (verified facts) |
|---|---|---|
| You play on a phone | Android | $5.99 one-time — the cheapest paid version at any date |
| You have a Windows PC or a Steam Deck | Steam | Deck Playable + full controller support; $9.74 before September 29, $14.99 after |
| You want phone and PC covered | Buy one now, add the other later | One account spans both versions; the stores charge separately |
| You refuse to pay before trying | itch.io demo, then Android | Free browser demo to judge it; Android is the lowest paid price |
One dated reason not to wait too long on the Steam side: the developer’s September 21 plans post commits to “making ALL future regions and content FREE” while warning of “a one-time, slight price increase of the game when the next region releases” that “will not affect any players who purchase the game before then”. In plain terms — buying before the next region ships locks today’s price, and the new regions themselves will not cost extra.
The double-purchase quote marks one end of the spectrum: a Steam reviewer wrote “So good I bought it on mobile too” — even at two full prices, some players keep both versions in rotation. There is also a separate Supporter Pack DLC listed on the Steam page, if you want to throw in extra support; it is a distinct product from the base game.
Is Batomon Showdown worth it?
The reception numbers, all checked September 27, 2026: Steam’s 961 reviews are 91% positive — “Very Positive” in Steam’s own buckets — while the Google Play listing holds 4.8 stars from 185 reviews and the #1 top paid strategy slot on the US chart. For a one-time purchase with no subscription attached, that is a strong opening month.
What the money buys on either store: everything shipped so far — the Pantra and Jinto regions, ranked seasons, and every post-launch patch — with the developer publicly committed to free future regions. The negative reviews concentrate on two gameplay gripes, not technical breakage: high-rank balance (players report meta comps dominating at Master rank) and battle pace (partly answered by the three Fast Forward speeds added in hotfix 1.0.2). Both are balance complaints the developer has been patching on a weekly-to-biweekly cadence.
The cheapest way to answer “worth it” for yourself costs nothing: the itch.io demo runs free in the browser, and it is not a small sample — one Steam reviewer reports playing “nearly 30h on the Demo” before buying the full release. What you get visually, straight from the release build:

The developer’s own 37-second release-date trailer is the fastest orientation on what a run looks like.
When is the iOS version coming?
There is no date — and as of September 27, 2026 it has not shipped. The evidence, in order:
- The developer’s August 31 mobile announcement: “I am working to have the iOS version released at the same time, but it is having trouble getting approved in the App Store, so I can’t guarantee it will be available in time. But it will be available in the future at some point!”
- On launch day the developer’s X account still listed the App Store as “still in review….” (per our September 27 research sweep of @berrymintdev).
- The US App Store returns no Batomon Showdown app through the iTunes Search API — its fuzzy matches on the query are all unrelated apps (checked September 27, 2026).
- Players on the game’s subreddit mobile thread confirm the same state in comments: “Not out on IOS” (September 27 research sweep).
So the honest answer: Android users can buy today, iPhone users cannot, and the developer has publicly committed to a future iOS release without attaching a date. When it ships, this section is the first thing that changes — it is this page’s standing follow-up item.
Can you try it for free first?
Yes — the free route is itch.io, not Steam. The official itch.io page hosts a browser demo that self-describes as “the demo of Batomon Showdown, a creature collector auto battler!” and costs nothing (page checked September 27, 2026).
Two caveats worth knowing before you use it to judge the paid version:
- It is an older build. The browser demo is the v0.8.5-era demo — the last demo patch was announced August 25, 2026, three weeks before release. The 1.0.0 launch features are absent from it: the demo predates the Jinto region (which arrived “with 50+ new Batomon” at 1.0.0), the ranked season system and the Level 4 resale rule.
- The Steam demo is gone. The demo that lived on Steam (app 4646330) was delisted when Season 0 ended on September 14, 2026 — its store API entry now returns nothing (re-checked September 27).
Neither caveat makes the demo useless — the trainer selection, the shop loop and the battle core are all in it — but the balance numbers you see in the demo are not the balance numbers shipping in the current patch, and the roster you can meet is the launch region’s, not the full two-region game.
Before you buy: check the game’s current state
Two pages on this site track the live game rather than the demo, and both are worth a look with your wallet in hand:
- The Batomon tier list shows which monsters the current patch favors — useful if you plan to step into ranked on a competitive foot.
- The monster list accounts for every monster official sources have confirmed so far, region by region — a fair proxy for the size of the collection pool you are buying into.
- If the answer to “worth it” turns out to be yes, the best teams guide is the systems index for spending your first days well.
